Marmite
|
The Europeans are hitting us where it hurts, targeting this life sustaining substance which is barely sold outside the UK. Maybe we should declare a no-Nutella zone or something.

I've never understood your need to make things up Willtell If you have an opinion then put that across, that's fair enough, but don't try to back it up with made up nonsense just because you think it makes your point more valid. It makes it less so as it's obvious you don't know exactly what you are talking about.

You're right - I worked it out it is a lot more than 1%. About 25% it seems.

Reply goose 2:03 Thu Oct 13 "Marmite is produced in the UK but i would guess certain components are procured from outside?? plus they trade/report in euros but Tesco pay them in GBP so to get the same Euro price they would have to increase the GBP price?"
Yes but let's be clear here. The base meat extract and chemicals that get mixed into making Marmite will be less than 1% of the cost.
Changing £'s into €'s because the company is Dutch is their problem. Not the UK consumer's...

Hasn't been a year for rugby in NZ Cough.
Well, apart from thrashing the shit out of everyone on field all year and extending our unbeaten run and world domination obviously.
Although, none of that has anything to do with how awful British marmite is.

I suspect Marmite is of those fluids, like liquid helium, that acts in a very counter-intuitive way.
Never have more than a kilo in the house, in case it flows out of the jar and suffocates me in my sleep.

In my old work canteen they had marmite and I could never get it to stick to the plastic knife. There's another called Promite that I never tried.

Any Old Iron
It was a typo - he clearly meant 'it is illegal for a supplier to set the retail price', since that's what he said in about twenty previous posts.
So you either have the memory of a goldfish or are being deliberately perverse.
